Why Vote?
- First and foremost, Christians have a special responsibility to be good citizens (Romans 13).
- Secondly, voting is a civil right, hard-won for women, African-Americans, all other citizens.
- Thirdly, millions of people around the world have no say in who governs them, so you should not squander your opportunity.
- And last, every single vote does count.

New Yorker’s for Constitutional Freedoms (NYCF)
Northern Erie & Niagara County Candidate's Night
October 10th at 7:00 PM
at the Family Life Center
Meet and Question the Candidates for US House of Representatives, New York State Senate and Assembly!
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and question candidates running for election in November. After the introduction of candidates, attendees will have opportunity to question them on issues of interest. Attendees will submit written questions to the moderator, who will field the questions to the candidates. All area candidates running for the US House of Representative and the New York State Senate and Assembly (as certified by the Board of Elections) have been invited to participate. The event will close with an informal time and refreshments.
Pastor Kevin Backus stated: “I believe that God has given us the wonderful privilege of selecting our own leaders through the election process. This freedom was won and passed down to us through the tremendous sacrifice of our forefathers. Bible Presbyterian Church is partnering with New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms to provide opportunity for community residents to meet the candidates and understand their positions on issues of concern. This will help us vote with confidence this fall. I invite you to join us for a very special evening and ‘meet the candidates’.”

The Key Issues
1. Marriage: Is marriage the union of a man or woman, or can it be redefined to include same-sex couples? What about “civil unions” instead of marriage? Should divorce laws be changed to make divorce easier (such as “no-fault divorce”)?
2. Morals: Character does count!
• Integrity: Is the Candidate truthful and faithful to his commitments, including to his wife and family?
• Issues: Where does the Candidate stand on the great moral issues of our day, such as the homosexual agenda, expansion of gambling, and the right to life?
3. Money: The State of New York is in a financial crisis.
• What steps does the Candidate propose to reduce the deficit?
• What does the Candidate plan to do to stimulate the economy?
• New Yorkers are over-taxed and over-regulated. What specific steps should the Congress or Legislature do to reduce the tax and regulations load?
4. Military: The world has become more dangerous. How and when should US Forces and the New York State National Guard be deployed to deal with threats to the United States or its allies?
New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms is a Christian lobbying ministry that: (1) Monitors and impacts legislation; (2) Ministers to Legislators and their staffs; and (3) Motivates Christians to be “salt and light.”
